Bindery Veteran Retires After 50 Years Of Service

MBO‐Product Manager and Veteran of the Book Binding Industry has Retired after 50 Years of Service

December 10, 2013 ‐ Hartmut Sohn, Product Manager of MBO Digital, retired from his post. In order to commemorate his many achievements, colleagues from all over the world joined together for a ceremony in his honor.

Mr. Sohn was trained at the Knoll Co. book bindery in Backnang before moving on to Klett Co. in Korb. When he was 23 years old, Hartmut spent six months in Thailand establishing strong business relationships in that region. After his return he graduated with dual expertise in book bindery management and folding before going abroad to Indonesia for 3 1⁄2 years. Following this business venture, Mr. Sohn came back to Germany where he worked for 10 years as the department manager of direct mailing, production and development at Klett Co.

Later in his career, Hartmut worked briefly for Hunkeler‐USA and then took a job as a regional sales manager at MBO America. That experience, combined with a brief stop at HHS Glue Systems, amounted to 13 years of work in the USA. In 2009, Mr. Sohn returned to Germany to finish out his remarkable career with MBO, where he was named Product Manager of digital systems – a position he held until his retirement.

Hartmut Sohn can look back over the past 50 years of work with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Customers will especially remember him for his unmatched expertise and ability to come up with customized solutions for specialized fold productions which earned him the nickname „Mr. Origami.“ His dedicated work built many lasting relationships and left a positive impact on those who had the pleasure of meeting him.
